Course aim

To provide students with sufficient background understanding of mathematics concepts to confidently support mathematical learning in children aged birth – 8 years.

Course content

An introduction to thinking mathematically; thinking about mathematics as a means of communicating; effects of attitude and beliefs; historical and cultural contexts of mathematics; concepts, skills and knowledge in number, space, measurement, patterns and relationships; applications of mathematics in daily use; mathematical language.
