This course equips students with the skills and knowledge necessary to operate successfully as social workers in rural, remote and regional settings.
The context of human services in Rural Australia; Application of social work theory to rural social worker practice; intervention strategies relevant and appropriate to the field of (rural) practice; sociological analyses of rural communities, mining towns and railways towns; the roles and social status/identity of women, Aboriginal people and farmers; policy formulation, decision-making procedures and service delivery approaches in rural areas; professional isolation.
