To enable pre-service teachers to develop awareness of the social and community context of primary and middle schooling, the roles of teachers in the school-wide context, and the links between schools and other agencies in providing for children’s learning and welfare.
Community and interagency links; self as learner; teacher’s role; schools – organisation, policies, practice; communication in learning and teaching; learning as an active process; teaching models and strategies; using and evaluating learning environment technologies; behaviour management; observation; mandatory reporting; child protection issues; practice with small groups/classes in single lessons; reflecting on learning and practice.
