Breast Sonography

Course aim

Enable the student to acquire the specific in-depth knowledge and develop the skills required to perform practical procedures in breast ultrasound

Course content

Breast embryology, anatomy, physiology, pathology and sonographic appearances; male breast; role of breast ultrasound in diagnosis; imaging of breast prostheses; interventional techniques; artefacts; image optimisation; breast and axillary scanning techniques, including appropriate measurements and advanced techniques; communication skills – moral and ethical considerations; mammographic/ultrasound image correlation, basic MRI techniques and image appreciation and emerging advances in sonographic techniques.

This course can be completed alongside RADY 5030 to fit with a study plan

Corequisite(s)

Student must be involved in performing diagnostic breast ultrasound examinations, including interventional procedures.
