To provide students with the knowledge and skills to understand, and analyse complex transport issues and develop and conceptualise advanced and sophisticated transport policy solutions in the form of regulations, policies and strategies.
Setting transport policy and objectives: the role of governments in the provision of transport needs; the political, economic and financial context in which transport policy is made; the roles of politicians, public servants and other advisers. Implementation strategies using the public and private sectors: departments and public corporations; regulation and deregulation; contracting and other forms of funding; transport policy and planning at the local, regional, metropolitan and state levels of governance.
