Course aim

To introduce the students to the contexts of Junior Primary education and to develop appropriate teaching skills and to experience the changing role and expectations of the early childhood professional with particular attention to children’s learning in the arts, society and environment and physical education.

Course content

Transition and continuity in early childhood education; learning through discovery; communicating and questioning; classroom organisation and child management; current policies; guidelines; curricula and practice; observation and record keeping; planning, implementing and evaluating experiences; catering for the individual needs of children.
