UniSA STEM
To familiarise students with the procedures involved in the planning and management of a substantial project;
implement a substantial project in Applied Science; and extend the students' practical experience in Applied Science. This course aims to expose students to all the facets of a project from planning through to reporting in parallel with developing professional practices.
Wherever possible, the project will be related to the students' specialisation (major) or industrial work experience.
Projects may also be undertaken jointly with another discipline in UniSA STEM or UniSA Clinical and Health Sciences. In consultation with academic staff and, where applicable, the provider of the work experience, the student will be allocated a suitable project, based on personal
interests, relevance to their program and employment prospects, as well as the availability of suitable resources. Students will prepare a project management plan, consider WHS&W, risk assessment, complete the construction
and/or assembly of apparatus or systems needed for the implementation of their projects, and test the apparatus
or system to determine its adequacy in satisfying the project's criteria, and communicate the details of the project following professional practices. Attention will be given to the sufficiency of documentation. Students will participate in the Professional Preparation Program (PPP) which workshops professional practices, course objectives and employment processes.
