Course aim

To develop an awareness and understanding of the types of disabilities found in Junior Primary/Primary and special settings and the impact of these disabilities.

Course content

Nature of disability; identification and diagnosis; early intervention; Negotiated Education Plans; Special Education provisions; physical/sensory/health/learning disabilities; instructional/curriculum modifications; school and community support services; parent education and support; current issues in Special Education.
