To develop an awareness and understanding of the types of disabilities found in children in Junior Primary and Primary schools and special settings and the impact of these disabilities.
Preservice teachers will undertake study in the nature of disability; identification and diagnosis, early intervention, Negotiated Education Plans, special education provisions, physical/sensory/health/learning disabilities, instructional/curriculum modifications, school and community support services, parent education and support, and current issues in Special Education.
