This course is designed to introduce students to the concepts behind leisure in modern Australia society. The class will approach these issues from the personal point of view in an attempt to understand how each person’s leisure behaviour is shaped the way it is.
Defining leisure; how leisure patterns are shaped by society; leisure in contemporary Australian society; the benefits of leisure; leisure and stress; optimal arousal and flow; self-esteem and leisure; leisure and play; the dark side of leisure and the politics behind leisure.
