Course aim

To familiarise students with classificatory systems, an understanding of psychological disorders and the major treatment approaches used in clinical psychology.

Course content

Normality and abnormality; Mental illness in society; The study of specific forms of mental illness, eg Anxiety disorders; Somatoform disorders; Mood disorders; Schizophrenia; Substance use disorders; Eating disorders; Personality disorders; treatment models and their efficacy.
