The aim of this course is to allow the student to acquire the advanced knowledge and skills required to practice vascular sonography with autonomy, expert judgement, adaptability and responsibility.
Haemodynamics; physics of Doppler principles and image optimisation; anatomy and physiology; vascular disease processes; head (including intracranial) and neck sonography; lower and upper limb arterial sonography; lower and upper limb venous sonography; abdominal and post-operative vascular sonography; recent advances in vascular sonography.

Students need to meet the requirements of one of the prerequisite groups of courses. IGSO and IMSO students must also be in a General Sonography or Vascular Sonography training position, with placement details to be evidenced and confirmed prior to census date. Students in the General Sonography stream must have completed 400 hours of scanning prior to commencing this course; as evidenced and confirmed by submission of logbook milestone 1 prior to census date. Students in the Vascular Sonography stream must have completed 400 scans prior to commencing this course; as evidenced and confirmed by submission of logbook milestone 1 prior to census date.
