Course aim

Develop the advanced knowledge and skills required to practice in the area of abdominal sonography with autonomy, well developed judgement, adaptability and responsibility.

Course content

Sonographic imaging of the liver, pancreas, spleen, biliary tree, major vessels, renal, male pelvis, prostate, adrenal, retroperitoneum, paediatric abdomen and urinary tract and gastrointestinal tract, and the disease processes, sectional anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology and embryology related to these areas.

Students need to meet the requirements of one of the prerequisite groups. IGSO (Vascular) and IMSO (Vascular) students must also be in a Vascular Sonography training position, with placement details to be evidenced and confirmed prior to census date.

Corequisite(s)

Students enrolled in the IGSO (Vascular) and IMSO (Vascular) must complete at least 200 ultrasound examinations per study period.
