Course aim

To enhance students’ professional capabilities by fostering advanced student analyses of scenarios addressing the drivers shaping emerging patterns in global power relations, the Asian region and world order.

Course content

The students will be able to apply theories of global power, power shifts, interdependence, deterrence, complexity, cascades, whilst investigating the structure and scenario analysis of the implications to climate change and the challenges to US global primacy. The students will also investigate the embedded power of capitalist institutions, the US-EU FTA, and the global significance of the rise of Asia, including Asian regional integration and China’s power.

Completion of any two second year courses from the International Relations major/sub-major within the Bachelor of Arts, or by approval from the Program Director.
