Course aim

To extend the student's knowledge and understanding of the basic laws, principles and concepts of modern physics and their practical applications.

Course content

Optics: nature of light, laws of geometrical optics, interference, diffraction and polarisation.

Electromagnetism: electromagnetic induction, Faraday’s law, Maxwell’s equations (integral form)

Modern Physics: introduction to quantum physics, quantum mechanics, atomic physics, solid state physics, nuclear physics, superconductivity.
Workshop Component: Interactive group problem solving, computer literacy, selected topic reinforcement.
