Course aim

The aim of this course is to introduce the fundamentals to analyse the vibrations of mechanical systems. It will develop skills in how to model and analyse single and multi-degree of freedom rectilinear and rotary systems, for free, forced and damped vibrations. The knowledge will be extrapolated to vibration analysis of continuous systems and application of vibration analysis to industrial problems associated with vibration and acoustics.

Course content

Free and forced vibration analysis of single degree-of-freedom rectilinear systems: undamped and damped, free and forced vibration analysis of multi degree-of-freedom rotary systems: undamped and damped, vibration analysis of continuous systems; lagrange equarion; industrial applications of vibration analysis and introduction to noise control.
