Course aim

To provide an overview of the law relating to intellectual property in the commercial/business environment. Further, to examine the protection of business regulation, confidentiality, copyright, data, designs, ideas, inventions and the layouts of integrated circuits.

Course content

An examination of principles and systems for the legal protection of intellectual property including: the law of confidential information, breach of confidence and the employment relationship, the law of copyright and designs, protection of computer technology and the layouts of integrated circuits, Trade Practices legislation and the prohibitions on misleading or deceptive conduct in commerce, misappropriation of business reputation, unfair competition, licensing and commercial exploitation of intellectual property.
