Course aim

To develop knowledge and understanding of the global to local provision of medicines within a public health framework, provide students with an understanding of Australia’s National Strategy for the Quality Use of Medicines and to develop knowledge and skills relevant to the quality use of medicines as related to pharmacy practice.

Course content

Medical epidemiology; National Medicines Policy; industry marketing and life cycle management; regulation of pharmaceuticals including scheduling; Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme and Advisory Committee; pharmacovigilence; decision analysis; pharmacoeconomics; quantitative and qualitative research; ethical dimensions of research; translational research and using evidence to influence practice.
