Course aim

This course aims to investigate in detail the structure, function and reactivity of compounds and extend to advanced principles and strategies used in drug modification and synthesis.

Course content

Condensation reactions in the synthesis of compounds. Amine, imine and enamine chemistry. Advanced theory of aromaticity. Synthesis and chemical modification of selected compounds containing aromatic rings. The
structure and reactivity of heterocyclic compounds as they relate to physiologically active compounds. Retrosynthetic design.
