Course aim

To provide students with a thorough grounding in the contemporary study of communication as an interdisciplinary field of study.

Course content

Reading and critiquing a range of Australian, American, British and European communications, media and cultural studies journals, including identification and analysis of explicit and implicit agendas associated with different research traditions; relations between various areas within communication studies (eg organisational, mass and electronically mediated communication); selected current issues and trends (eg communication and the internet, globalisation).
