Course aim

To develop skills and concepts needed to ensure the ongoing contribution of information systems of an organisation to its competitive position.

Course content

Introduction to information technology infrastructure: historical perspective and management issues: the manager's role in the development and operation of information systems; corporate positioning and competitive advantage through information strategies; IT infrastructures and data resource management: management information for measuring effectiveness and productivity: information activities for decision support: business process redesign and system development to aid organisational learning: electronic commerce; disaster recovery.
