Aim

The program aims to provide an in-depth knowledge of various metallurgical processes to prepare graduates for professional careers in minerals, mining, manufacturing and processing industries.

Content & Structure

The program has a foundational first year that includes an introduction to the practice of engineering and fundamental study in areas relating to metallurgy including materials, mechanics and geology.  Courses in second year have a practice based emphasis that provides fundamentals of metallurgy including some chemistry, advanced mathematics, fluids, heat, mining, metallurgical processes and materials handling. The third year of the program provides more detailed study of particular metallurgical and mineral processing including pyrometallurgy and hydrometallurgy along with process control and aspects of professional practice including project management.  The fourth year includes a major individual, industry based project and the study of advanced metallurgical process design.
