Aim

The Graduate Certificate in Mediation (Family) qualifies individuals who apply a body of knowledge in mediation theory and practice to undertake professional or highly skilled work in settings requiring them to work with interpersonal, family and/or organisational conflict.

Content & Structure

Graduates will have advanced knowledge and mediation practical skills within a systematic and coherent body of family dispute resolution. Graduates will develop negotiation skills, narrative and transformative mediation styles, conflict coaching, dealing with difficult behaviours and strong emotions, balancing power and managing the mediation process.
Graduates will develop knowledge of the legislative requirements relating to family dispute resolution, and will explore issues around family separation including domestic and family violence, child inclusive practice and practice issues for family dispute resolution practitioners.

The students will complete 18 units of study comprising 3 core courses and 1 specialisation course.
