Entry requirements

Applicants are required to have:
- a completed Bachelor Degree in a relevant discipline, science, engineering, technology, or a completed degree in any discipline and 3 years work experience as a Forensic Computing, Information Assurance or Electronic Evidence professional; or
- a minimum of six years relevant professional experience in cyber security, forensic computing work experience in Law Enforcement, Defence or the commercial sector.
In addition, applicants would normally have passed coursework with the following content or gained similar skills and experience in their workplace:
- Computer programming,
- Data modelling and database design
- Project Management

Aim

To provide a postgraduate qualification in Cyber Security to meet the demands of Australian Government, Defence, Security and banking industry for students from a scientific, technical or law enforcement background.

Content & Structure

The program consists of four courses in Information Assurance and Security, Intrusion Detection, Secure Software Lifecycle and Critical Infrastructure Protection. A total of 18 units of study must be completed.

The program will be offered in both: traditional mode over 13 weeks x 2 hour seminar and 1 hour practical per week in SP2 and SP5; and intensive block teaching mode, 5 days x 8 hours over 1 week in SP2 and SP5 with ongoing web mediated support.

Rules

1. The program is available for Part-time study only and is not available to International full fee paying students (FPOS). These students should enrol into the Graduate Diploma or Masters which are available for full-time study.

Notes

1. Students are advised that a successful criminal history screening clearance is required for all students prior to undertaking the certified information systems security professional or certified software security lifecycle professional examinations.

2. Each course in this program includes one intensive week of half-day workshops. If you cannot attend the workshops please contact the Program Director as soon as possible to discuss alternatives.
