Admission criteria
The admission criteria have been grouped to assist you to easily find the information most relevant to your circumstances. However, you may fit into more than one and the university will consider applicants against each of the relevant criteria.
Certain conditions apply. For more information refer to Appendix 4 of the University's Selection and Entry policy.
To be eligible for selection, applicants are required to have:
Completed the South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE); and
- completed 200 credits of subjects;
- achieved a grade of C* or better in the Personal Learning Plan, 20 credits of literacy, 10 credits of numeracy and the Research Project at Stage 2;
- achieved a grade C- or better in an additional 60 credits at Stage 2;
- obtained a competitive ATAR.
* For Stage 2 subjects a grade of C- or better is required

In addition, international students who speak English as a foreign language must have obtained one of the following standards within the last two years prior to admission. Aim
To provide graduates with the education and skills necessary for those who wish to pursue a career in accounting and finance in public practice, commerce and industry, and the public sector. It also provides a sound qualification for careers in business and management.
Content & Structure
The program comprises eight course division core courses, majors in Accounting and Applied Finance, and ten elective courses. The program requires completion of courses totalling 144 units.
Study at the new Adelaide University in 2026
The University of Adelaide and the University of South Australia are combining their strengths to create a new university for the future, Adelaide University, opening in January 2026.
From 4 August 2025, the University of Adelaide and University of South Australia will no longer be accepting applications for new students.
Professional accreditation and recognition
Graduates of the program satisfy the educational requirements for membership of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia (FINSIA) where they are working in the financial services industry.
This program is recognised for maximum exemptions toward the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants' (ACCA) professional programs of study.
This program is recognised through the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Institute University Affiliation Program. Affiliated programs incorporate at least 70% of the CFA Candidate Body of Knowledge (CBOK) for all three levels of the CFA Program exams, including ethics. This program positions students to undertake the Chartered Financial Analyst® exam, which has become one of the most respected and recognised investment credentials in the world. The CFA Institute University Affiliation Program signals to potential employers and the marketplace that the curriculum is closely tied to professional practice and is well-suited to preparing students to sit for the CFA examinations. As an Affiliated University, UniSA Business is eligible to grant a number of student scholarships for the CFA Program each year.
