This is the only accredited graduate certificate of its kind in Australia and New Zealand, helping you to extend your specialist skills in breast imaging and sonography.
The qualification is designed to provide diagnostic radiographers and other relevant health professionals with the ability to develop new skills and theoretical knowledge in the area of breast ultrasound.
Applicants are responsible for organising their own training position in an ultrasound department to complete the required scanning experience.
You’ll develop advanced practical skills and knowledge in the specialist field of breast imaging sonography.
Practical learning is a major focus, with students embarking on ultrasound training and associated clinical placements. You’ll be required to complete a logbook of required breast ultrasound examinations under the supervision of practicing clinicians.

This graduate certificate is only offered online and part-time. Online students are required to attend a compulsory on-campus workshop at the City East campus for the mammography course run by BreastScreen SA.

This program enables graduates to apply for full professional accreditation from the Australian Sonographer Accreditation Registry (ASAR) under the Breast Sonography category. Evidence of scanning experience in an Australian or New Zealand clinical setting is required for such accreditation.
