Aim

The Bachelor of Journalism degree prepares graduates with the knowledge, skills and attributes to contribute effectively to the rapidly changing journalism industry. Graduates will utilise critical thinking and analytical skills, comprehensive writing and audio and video production capabilities, and the ability to work effectively with professionals in allied fields such as digital media and communication. Opportunities for further learning for Bachelor of Journalism graduates include pathways into post-graduate studies in communication.

Content & Structure

The program requires the completion of 24 courses totalling 108 units. It comprises 18 journalism core courses which provide theoretical and practical training in traditional journalism skills, digital media usage, social media skills, and communications, plus a minor (or four electives) in an area of the student's choosing to complement
their career aspirations, such as health, criminal justice, data analytics, and psychology. Also included will be the UniSA Online common course CURR 3021 Critical Approaches to Online Learning, as well as UO Intercultural Communication.
