Aim

To provide students with the fundamental knowledge that underpins the biomedical sciences, coupled with research skills that prepare graduates for employment in biomedical research and other health professional programs.

Content & Structure

This program provides students with a broad education in biomedical sciences by providing learning in a range of biological sciences, at the molecular, cellular, systems, organismal, and community level. This is coupled with with biomedical research experience.
In the first year of the program students undertake foundational studies in biology, anatomy, chemistry, along with introductory quantitative data analysis skills. Biological and chemical systems come together in the teaching of intermediate and advanced courses in Biochemistry, Immunology, Genetics and Pharmacology. There is a particular focus on cancer biology. The degree is available as a 3 year AQF7 award.

From 4 August 2025, the University of South Australia will no longer be accepting applications for new students. Study at Adelaide University.
