Aim

To prepare students with knowledge of exercise and nutrition as a foundation to healthy active lifestyles for the promotion of positive health outcomes as a foundation for careers in a range of fields and settings that are actively engaged in the promotion of health at individual, corporate and community levels.

Content & Structure

The first year of study develops foundational knowledge in biology, health across the lifespan, physical activity and nutrition and introduces students to health promotion. In the second year students build on this knowledge and undertake studies in biochemistry and physiology with a focus on nutrition and exercise. In the final year of the program students study courses that develop the transition to employment such as food quality and regulation, professional communication and psychology with a capstone course that fosters further skills in developing projects in nutrition and exercise. Two (2) elective courses are offered for students to extend knowledge in an area compatible with program aims. The program requires completion of 108 units of study.
