Aim

The Master of Design (Contemporary Art) qualifies individuals with advanced knowledge and understanding of their chosen specialisation in visual art and creative practices by developing their ability to undertake informed and critical research and analysis, professional practice and scholarship at postgraduate level.

Content & Structure

Graduates of the Master of Design (Contemporary Art) will have knowledge of research methodologies tied to focussed discipline specific creative studio practices, advanced knowledge of the discipline specific creative professional fields either as a self-employed professional or as an employee, applied research and technical skills interpreted through visual art and design practice and an advanced understanding of reflective practice and critical analysis contextualised in an academic and professional/industry visual art and design setting.

Graduates of the Master of Design (Contemporary Art) will have high level applied skills both in studio and in marketing the artist/designer in a professional context. 

The students will complete 72 units of study comprising 18 units of research studio, 18 units of project, 9 units of project report 4.5 units of research methods, 4.5 units of business practices, 4.5 units of sustainability and 13.5 units of electives.
