The program provides future leaders of industry with essential principles and advanced skills in engineering management. This program covers key areas of engineering management including operations management, total quality management, supply chain management, enterprise resource planning, robotics, automation, engineering research methods and project management.
This program consists of 72 units of study.
In the first year of the program students gain an appreciation of various operational aspects of managing the operations of an engineering organisation. This includes studies in areas such as quality management, project planning and control, intelligent production systems including the use of robotics and automation and energy management. In addition they develop engineering research methods skills and have the opportunity to apply their knowledge to a substantial work based project with a local organisation.
In the second year of the program students undertake more advanced studies which emphasise the strategic management of engineering operations. This includes consideration of issues relating to supply chain management and the enterprise resource management as well as economic management considerations. The course Operations Management Systems provides an integrative management of these various strategic aspects of engineering operations. The program also contains a minor thesis where students will apply their knowledge and research skills to a substantial research/ workplace project.
