Aim

The Bachelor of Visual Arts (Honours) Degree qualifies individuals with the research and analytical skills for entry into related professions where a rigorous academic standard is required, and as a pathway for research and higher degree programs.

Content & Structure

Graduates of a Bachelor of Visual Arts (Honours) degree will have a coherent body of knowledge, with depth in the underlying principles and concepts in their chosen discipline and knowledge of research principles and methods appropriate to related specialisation in art, craft and/or design. Graduates will develop critical, reflective and analytical research skills in contemporary art and craft practice to produce solutions to complex problems with intellectual independence.

The students will complete 36 units of study comprising Research Methods where students will formalise their research topic and produce a literature review appropriate to their topic, and consolidate their research in Honours Research Studies A, B and C to produce either a body of studio work accompanied by a written exegesis or a scholarly thesis.
