Aim

The Bachelor of Arts (Communication and Media Management) degree qualifies individuals who apply a broad and coherent body of knowledge of communication and its application in a variety of media platforms to undertake professional practice in Communication and Media Management and related fields of public and organisational communication. The program also provides a pathway for further learning in organisational communication and media management.

Content & Structure

The Bachelor of Arts (Communication and Media Management) focuses on the theoretical principles of the discipline of Communication and Media Studies and their application in a range of organisational contexts and diverse media platforms. With a focus on effective oral and written communication, the application of basic skills in journalism and public relations, digital media production and document design graduates will have the fundamental knowledge and skills required of a professional communicator in a contemporary organisation, and the advanced skills in analysis and critical thinking required to build professional competency.They will also have a broad and coherent body of knowledge in a second (Sub-Major) and a third (Minor) disciplinary field, to complement and enhance the skills and knowledge of the Communication and Media Management professional major.

 
The Bachelor of Arts (Communication and Media Management) is equivalent to three years of full time study or 108 units. The program includes:

  • A professional major of seven courses (8 x 4.5 unit courses – total 36 units);
  • Four Common Core courses (18 units)
  • A Sub-major ( 6 x 4.5 unit courses – total 27 units)
  • A Minor ( 4 x 4.5 unit courses – total 18 units)
  • One course in Indigenous Australian Studies
  • One Free Elective
