Applicants are required to have:

- A completed four-year Bachelors degree with Honours in civil engineering or a related discipline from a recognised higher education institution or equivalent; OR
- A completed Graduate Certificate in a Civil Engineering from UniSA, or an equivalent qualification from a recognised higher education institution

A related discipline may be other engineering degrees or related 4 year Science degrees with Honours. Applicants who do not hold an honours degree in Civil Engineering will be assessed on a case by case basis by the Program Director.

Aim

The Master of Engineering (Civil) aims to provide graduates and current practitioners with an advanced level of knowledge and skills in a range of areas relevant to the structural and geotechnical sectors of Civil Engineering.

Content & Structure

The program requires completion of 18 units of core courses and 18 units of elective courses in civil engineering. On completion of these courses students should be able to:

Apply and synthesise civil engineering theories in solving practical cases
Create and design models to be used in structural and geotechnical design and analysis
Adapt structural and geotechnical data analysis methods at advanced level
Utilise advanced modelling techniques to solve a range of practical problems in civil engineering
Develop advanced skills to communicate with civil engineering and related professionals

Rules

1. No credit is available in this program. Where students have previously completed a similar course in another program, they may be granted permission to substitute an alternative course with the agreement of the Program Director.

Notes

1. Civil Engineering Research Project must be taken in the final study period of a student's program. It is offered in both SP2 and SP5 each year. Hence, students who commence the program mid-year will take three electives in SP5 and replace two of the electives in SP2 shown in the schedule with the Civil Engineering Research Project.
