Entry requirements
Applicants are required to have a completed Bachelors degree, Bachelor Honours Degree, Graduate Certificate, or a Graduate Diploma in a related discipline from a recognised higher education institution or equivalent.

Applicants who have completed a Bachelor degree in Science (Honours), or Graduate Certificate in Environmental Science; Environmental Studies; or Environmental Management, are eligible to enter the program with 0.5 EFTSL Advanced Standing and complete the program in 1.5 years of full time study or equivalent part time study.

Applicants who have completed a Bachelor (Honours) degree in Environmental Science; Environmental Studies; Environmental Management; Civil and Environmental Management; or Natural Resource Management, are eligible to enter the program with 1.0 EFTSL Advanced Standing and complete the program in 1 year of full time study or equivalent part time study.

Applicants who have completed a Graduate Diploma in Environmental Science; Environmental Studies; or Environmental Management, are eligible to enter the program with 1.0 EFTSL Advanced Standing and complete the program in 1 year of full time study or equivalent part time study.

Applicants with similar qualifications from a recognised higher education institution or equivalent, will be assessed on a case by case basis

Aim

The program prepares students for careers in a wide range of resource management agencies and industries and equips them with the knowledge and skills necessary to take a leadership role and responsibility in those organisations.

Content & Structure

The Master of Environmental Management and Sustainability requires the completion of 72 units of courses. Students taking the Water Resources Management specialisation can complete either:

six core courses (27 units), Environmental Management and Sustainability Project (9 units), and eight Water Management electives (36 units) OR
six core courses (27 units), six Water Resources Management electives (27 units), and Environmental Research Project E (18 units).

Rules

1. Students undertaking Environmental Research Project E must have prior approval from the Program Director. Normally this will require a GPA of 6 or greater and demonstrated ability to undertake a research project. Students will normally enrol in this course in their second year of study. Research topics will normally be identified earlier. Students must successfully complete Research Theory and Practice before they can commence Environmental Research Project E.
