Aim

The aim of the Bachelor of Social Work is to prepare students for entry level professional practice in social work. The program is designed to establish a sound foundation knowledge from the political, behavioural and social sciences as a basis for in depth knowledge of social work theory and its application to practice. Learning through the field education component of the program establishes the linkage between classroom teaching and the development of practice skills, competence and professional identity.

Content & Structure

The 144-unit program provides a sound knowledge of the political and social context of human service provision, and of behavioural and social sciences as a foundation for social work practice. Supervised work placements with social workers accompanied by university based study provides students in the final two years of the program with opportunities to develop practice skills, competence and a professional identity.
