Entry requirements

Applicants are required to have:
- A completed four-year Bachelors degree with Honours in civil engineering or a related discipline from a recognised higher education institution or equivalent; OR
- A completed Graduate Certificate in a Civil Engineering, or related discipline from a recognised higher education institution; OR
- A completed Graduate Diploma in a Civil Engineering, or related discipline from a recognised higher education institution; OR
- A completed Graduate Diploma in Professional Practice (Transport Systems Engineering) from University of South Australia
  
  Applicants who hold a degree in one of the following disciplines such as, Mechanical, Mining or Environmental Engineering may also be eligible and will be assessed on a case by case basis.

Aim

The Master of Engineering (Civil) aims to provide graduates and current practitioners from civil engineering oriented disciplines with an advanced level of knowledge and understanding in a range of civil engineering areas of study.

Content & Structure

The program requires the completion of 36 units of courses.

Students can complete either:

Principles of Project Management and seven electives from any area (36 units); OR
Principles of Project Management, five electives from any area (27 units) and Civil Engineering Research Project (9 units);

The elective courses may be chosen from one or more areas of study from the following:

Structural Engineering
Environmental Management
Transport Engineering
Project Management
Water Resources Management

There is no restriction on the minimum or maximum number of elective units that may be selected from any area of study.

Rules

1. No credit will be granted in this program. Where a student has completed one or more of the courses from this schedule as part of another program they will be required to complete alternative courses to obtain the Masters.

Notes

1. Not all courses will be available in any one year.

2. The Masters program requires the completion of 36 units of courses. Students can complete either: a) The core course and seven electives from any area (36 units); OR b) the core course, five electives from any area (27 units) and Civil Engineering Research Project (9 units);

3. Students undertaking Civil Engineering Research Project in the second semester of their program are encouraged to enrol in the course Engineering Research Practice in the previous semester.
