Aim

This program provides a flagship program for high achieving students in the discipline of computer and information science. This program aims to provide a broad and fundamental understanding of the theory and practice of computers and information technology and prepares graduates for a professional career in computing and research in the advanced computing industry. In addition, it aims to provide advanced program work and project work for students in computer and information science. The program will prepare students for postgraduate studies or industrial employment in leading edge computing and information technology.

Content & Structure

This four year program consists of:
  • core courses in computer and information science (72 units)
  • 5 core courses (22.5 units) in advanced computer and information science topics
  • 3 elective courses (13.5 units) selected from a range of speciality areas
  • 2 courses (9 units) of research laboratory placement within the school
  • an Elective course (4.5 units)
  • a research methods course (4.5 units) and
  • an 18 unit minor thesis undertaken in the final year of study.
  • A total of 144 units are required for the completion of the program.
