Admission criteria

The admission criteria have been grouped to assist you to easily find the information most relevant to your circumstances. However, you may fit into more than one and the university will consider applicants against each of the relevant criteria.

Certain conditions apply. For more information refer to Appendix 4 of the University's Selection and Entry policy.

To be eligible for selection, applicants are required to have:

Completed the South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE); and
- completed 200 credits of subjects;
- achieved a grade of C* or better in the Personal Learning Plan, 20 credits of literacy, 10 credits of numeracy and the Research Project at Stage 2;
- achieved a grade C- or better in an additional 60 credits at Stage 2;
- obtained a competitive ATAR.
* For Stage 2 subjects a grade of C- or better is required
Alternatively, the minimum educational requirements may be met by those who have fulfilled prerequisite requirements and
- Completed the equivalent secondary education qualifications as required for university entry under SACE; OR
- Completed or partly completed a recognised higher education program at a recognised higher education institution; OR
- Completed at least four Open Universities Australia (OUA) courses at the appropriate level; OR
- Completed an award from TAFE or from another registered training organisation at AQF Certificate IV or above; OR
- Completed the International Baccalaureate Diploma; OR
- Qualified for Special Entry; OR
- Completed University Foundation Studies program, Applied Science and Engineering stream; OR
- Completed the Associate Degree in Engineering program at the University of South Australia.

Aim

This program aims to provide graduates with skills in engineering design, manufacturing technology, industrial automation, and computer aided engineering up to the level of engineering technologist as recognised by the Institution of Engineers Australia.

Content & Structure

The early years of the program focus on the basic engineering and physical sciences, communication, the role of the engineer in society and manufacturing practices. In the final year, studies include the application of new technologies in manufacturing, manufacturing processes, design of products and manufacturing systems and manufacturing management. The Bachelor of Technology requires completion of 108 units.

Notes

1. It is a requirement of Engineers Australia that students complete a minimum period of 12 weeks of industrial experience in a relevant industry prior to graduation. Assessment in the course Industrial Experience will remain incomplete until the student submits a written report and receives a pass.

2. This program includes an elective course. A list of elective courses is available from the UniSA website via http://www.unisanet.unisa.edu.au/programs. The selection will be subject to availability and satisfaction of pre-requisite requirements.

3. Students with a GPA 5.0 or higher during the first two years of the program will be eligible to articulate to the Bachelor of Engineering program at the conclusion of the second year of the program provided they have taken as their elective either MATH 1064 Mathematical Methods for Engineers 2, MATH 2009 Engineering Modelling, MENG 2008 Mechanics of Machines and omit the Mechanical Engineering Project 1A. This then brings them into line with the first three years of the Bachelor of Engineering program.

4. Students who have completed EEET 3033 - Professional Engineering Practice E, will be eligible to enrol in the Graduate Certificate in Professional Practice as an alternative to Industrial Experience (MENG 3007)
