Entry requirements
Entrants to the program shall normally hold:
- A successfully completed bachelors degree from a recognised higher education institution or equivalent*; or
- A Graduate Diploma in Management with a grade point average of at least 4.0 from the University of South Australia or an equivalent qualification from another recognised university.
* Normally applicants who have completed a bachelors degree with a grade point average of 4** or better will be considered for entry.
** A GPA of 4 refers to the UniSA grading scale which has a range of 1 - 7, other Australian and international grading scales will be considered.

Aim

This program is designed to provide knowledge and skills in the main areas of operational and strategic human resource management practice.

Content & Structure

To qualify for the award students must complete 54 credit units, made up of six Human Resource Management core courses, the four courses of the Divisional core, at least one course from the Human Resource Management elective list and sufficient courses from the general elective list to make up twelve courses, subject to the Rules and Notes.

Rules & notes

Rules

1. Subject to the Rules and Notes, students must complete 54 credit units, made up of six HRM core courses, the four courses of the Divisional core, and sufficient additional courses from the general elective list, unless otherwise approved by the Program Director.

2. Students who have completed the requirements of the Graduate Diploma in Human Resource Management with a GPA of at least 5.0 may apply for admission into this program.

3. Students who have a background, or previous studies, in a particular course may substitute a course of equal value and standing with the approval of the Program Director.

Notes

1. This program may be taken part time or full time.

2. Refer to the electives pool for recommendations. A student may take other electives from within the University with the permission of the Program Director.

3. This is a full fee paying program.

Professional accreditation and recognition

This program has met the criteria for course accreditation and is currently accredited by the Australian HR Institute (AHRI). Accreditation is reviewed every three years by the AHRI National Accreditation Committee. Students applying for this course can be assured that the quality of core units map onto the AHRI Model of Excellence for HR Practitioners and Academics, a recognised benchmark of HR best practice and standards. All graduates of the Master qualification who meet the requisite work experience requirements will be eligible for direct entry into the Unit 4 Capstone: Applied Project in Organisational Capability of the AHRI Practising Certification (APC) Program. Candidates who have successfully completed the Capstone project will be awarded HR certification by AHRI and be recognised as Certified Practitioners HR (CPHR).
