Aim

The program aims to prepare students for a professional career in information technology engineering with particular emphasis on the areas specified within the specialisation name and the major which the student selects.

Content & Structure

The Bachelor of Engineering requires completion of courses totalling 144 units.  This comprises a common two year foundation program of mathematics, science computing and electrical and electronic engineering principles.  Each specialisation commences in the third year of study, where students concentrate on their chosen application area, as well as a set of common courses in signals and systems, and professional engineering practice.  Further specialist courses are offered in the final year.  The degree inculcates professional engineering skills in a major final year group project, normally spanning both first half and second half of the final year.

The 7 streams of the Bachelor of Engineering degree program are defined in the Program Schedules that follow:

  • Computer Systems
  • Electrical and Mechatronic
  • Electronics and Communications
  • Networking and Communications
  • Optical and Electronic
  • Electrical and Electronic
  • Electrical and Systems Engineering

It is possible to complete this program in less than four years by undertaking courses offered in the summer during study periods 1 and 7.  Students interested in this option should obtain advice from their program director.

A list of available electives and majors is available from the EIE School web page at www.unisa.edu.au/eie.

Students who successfully complete this program may apply to enter theMaster of Engineering  (LMEE) in one of the available specialisations.
