Units 4.5 |
1. Students who have recorded a Grade Point Average of at least 5.0 across all courses in years 1 - 3 of the program will be formally invited to undertake Honours by the Program Director.
2. Students must complete 2 planning/major electives in their program to the value of 9 units if undertaking Honours, and 3 planning/major electives in their program to the value of 13.5 units if not taking Honours.
3. Students must choose and complete one Undergraduate Elective from any other Division or program.
1. Students may graduate with a Bachelor of Urban and Regional Planning or they may choose to take a major and will graduate with either the Bachelor of Urban and Regional Planning (Environmental Planning) or Bachelor of Urban and Regional Planning (Social and Community Planning).
2. To pursue a Major, students must select a theme for their Planning Research Study (Hons) 1 and Planning Research Study (Hons) 2NE (18 units), or Planning Project 1 and Planning Project 2N (13.5 units), that is relevant to their chosen Major to make up the total of 27 units of coursework required. Alternative elective courses may be selected subject to the approval of the Program Director.
3. Students wishing to pursue a Major should select 13.5 units (9 units for Honours students) from the relevant Major electives or in consultation with the Program Director. Students who do not wish to pursue a major may choose their elective courses from any of the Planning Electives in the schedule. Alternative courses may be selected subject to the approval of the Program Director.
4. The program is offered full time over four years or by part-time equivalent. Students studying part-time will be encouraged to complete courses in the order indicated in the schedule.
5. 5. Students wishing to undertake an International Student Exchange during their program should consult with the Program Director at least four months prior to enrolling in this option when choosing course options and arranging study plans. International Student Exchange can be undertaken in Study period 2 or Study period 5 of year 2, or Study period 2 in year 3, or Study period 2 in year 4. Students undertaking an International Student Exchange in Study period 2 in year 4 must consult with the coordinator of the Planning Honours and Project courses to ensure that an appropriate research methods course is included in the program at the international university and negotiate an appropriate thesis supervision process before commencing their exchange.
6. ARCH 4037 - Planning Study Visit - All prospective students undertaking this planning elective will be required to attend an information session. Following this meeting, all interested students will be required to complete a written expression of interest. The expression of interest will be used to judge eligibility to take this course due to the limited number of spaces.
7. Honours students can enrol in a special industry related project option (subject to staff availability and there being a suitable project) using the course ¿Planning Project 2N¿.This is in addition to their Honours thesis and not a substitute for the Honours thesis.Enrolment for this option would be in Study Periods 2 (4.5 unit loading) and 5 (4.5 unit loading), making a total of 9 units.
8. Ordinary degree students enrolled in Planning Project 2N must complete this course work option in Study Period 5 in Year 4 of their program as a 9 unit course.
