100 hours - In addition, students will be expected to spend at least another 60 hours outside of class reflecting on the content.

Course overview
UniSA has a Mathematics Short Course to allow students to obtain the required prerequisite before commencing their studies at UniSA.
The course may be used to obtain the prerequisite for a variety of degrees including engineering, maths and science programs.

How to apply
Applications open from 1 October 2020
Process for Bachelor of Engineering
- Step 1 - Apply for Bachelor of Engineering through SATAC, and include a lower preference for the Associate Degree in Engineering if you wish to consider that pathway.
- Step 2 - Division Academic Services will contact you with offer to undertake the Maths Short Course if you meet the pre-requisite.
- Step 3 - Complete Mathematics Short Course over the summer.
- Step 4 - Upon successful completion of the summer course, an offer to the Bachelor degree will be made through SATAC.
- Step 5 - If successful, commence in the Bachelor program from SP2.*
- Step 6 - If unsuccessful, offer will be made to the Associate Degree in Engineering, as a pathway to the Bachelor degree.
Process for Bachelor of Mathematics and Bachelor of Science
- Step 1 - Apply for Bachelor of Mathematics and/or Bachelor of Science through SATAC.
- Step 2 - Division Academic Services will contact you with offer to undertake the Maths Short Course if you meet the pre-requisite.
- Step 3 - Complete Mathematics Short Course over the summer.
- Step 4 - Upon successful completion of the summer course, an offer to the Bachelor degree will be made through SATAC.

Course content
The Mathematics Short Course will be a revision of: algebraic functions and their graphs; trigonometric functions, properties and identities; elementary matrices and linear algebra.
Followed by an introduction to: differential calculus, integral calculus, and exponential and logarithmic functions.
Assessment
The course is by continuous assessment (Graded). There are:
- Five weekly exercise assessments
- A mid-term test
- Final test
These tests will be supervised and conducted during class time.

Cancellation policy
The University of South Australia reserves the right to cancel events and issue refunds. In the event that an attendee cannot attend, a substitute is welcome to attend in their place. No refunds will be given unless 21 days notice is given in writing prior to the date of the planned event. If less than 21 days the fee can be used for the same course at a later stage, or another course of the same value.
