Employers value graduates with industry experience and our Business Career Development Grants (formerly known as the Advanced Business Study Grants) will help you get there. UniSA is offering grants to give eligible Accounting, Finance and Economic students a head start towards their dream career.

Students have the opportunity to receive one of three grants:

  • Finance Career Grant
  • Accounting Career Grant
  • Economics Career Grant

What benefits will I receive?

Eligible students will have the opportunity to undertake a professional career development elective course and receive credit in their degree through a course substitution. This applies to students undertaking the following courses:

Students will receive $1000 to go toward their professional development opportunity, examples include:

  • a career development or professional skills course offered by UniSA
  • an internship or industry practicum
  • an international study tour to gain global experience and enhance career prospects
  • any additional professional education opportunity of choice approved by the Program Director.

How does it work?

  • Preference any of the specified UniSA programs above in your SATAC application.
  • Successfully complete and achieve a minimum study score of B+ in Stage 2 Accounting, Economics, Specialist Maths or Mathematical Methods as recorded on your SACE Record of Achievement.
  • Accept an offer for any of the above UniSA programs.
  • Receive your congratulatory letter confirming details of your grant.

    Finance Career Grant

    Am I eligible?

    To be eligible for the Finance Career Grant you must: 

    1. Preference one of the following UniSA programs in your SATAC application:

    Students who undertake selected Fast-track to Masters packages which combine Bachelor of Business (Finance) with any postgraduate degree are also eligible 

    1. Successfully complete Stage 2 Specialist Mathematics or Mathematical Methods and achieve a minimum study score of a B+ as recorded on your SACE Record of Achievement.
    2. Accept an offer for one of the above programs.
    3. Receive your congratulatory letter confirming details of your grant.

    What will I receive?

    Eligible students will receive a course substitution for UniSA’s Quantitative Methods for Business (MATH1053) course and instead will undertake an additional elective of their choice.

    • If you have already enrolled in Quantitative Methods for Business (MATH 1053), you will need to unenroll/drop this course before census date to receive the grant. If you remain enrolled in Quantitative Methods for Business (MATH 1053), it will be understood that you are forfeiting the grant.

    You will also receive a $1000 grant toward your professional development opportunity. Some examples include:  

    • Embarking on an international study tour to gain global experience and enhance career prospects
    • Undertaking an internship or industry practicum
    • Any additional professional education opportunity of choice approved by the Program Director
    • Choosing to study from a range of professional development or skills-enhancing courses offered by UniSA, including:

    Economics Career Grant

    Am I eligible?

    To be eligible for the Economics Career Grant you must:

    1. Preference one of the following UniSA programs in your SATAC application:

    Students who undertake selected Fast-track to Masters packages which combine Bachelor of Business (Economics, Finance and Trade) with any postgraduate degree are also eligible.

    1. Successfully complete Stage 2 Economics, achieve a minimum study score of a B+ as recorded on your SACE Record of Achievement and undertake a formative assessment.
    2. Accept an offer for the above program.
    3. Receive a congratulatory letter confirming details of your grant.

    What will I receive?

    Eligible students will receive a course substitution for UniSA’s Principles of Economics (ECON1008) course and undertake an industry-relevant or professional development elective course of their choice instead to enhance your employment portfolio.

    • If you have already enrolled in Principles of Economics (ECON 1008), you will need to unenroll/drop this course before census date to receive the grant. If you remain enrolled in Principles of Economics (ECON 1008), it will be understood that you are forfeiting the grant.

    You will also receive a $1000 grant to go toward your professional development opportunity. Some examples include:  

    • Embarking on an international study tour to gain global experience and enhance career prospects
    • Undertaking an internship or industry practicum
    • Any additional professional education opportunity of choice approved by the Program Director
    • Choosing to study from a range of professional development or skills-enhancing courses offered by UniSA, including:

What else do I need to know?

  • Important Notes minus-thick plus-thick

    1. In order to be offered one of the Business Career Development Grants, you must complete your SACE in the year prior to commencing study with UniSA, enrolling in one of the UniSA programs outlined above and meet all other eligibility criteria as detailed.

    2. If you are deemed eligible, you will automatically receive the grant and will be provided with the necessary information before your university studies commence. No application is required. Recipients will be determined following the main January offer round and will receive notification before the end of January.

    3. Students who do not wish to receive the course substitution offered (i.e. opt to study the course listed above) will become ineligible for the grant.

    4. If students enrol in the Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting), Bachelor of Business (Finance) double degree and are eligible for both the Advanced Accounting and Advanced Finance grants, they are only entitled to one grant and will be required to choose which grant they wish to receive. Please note the course substitution differs between grants.

    5. If Accounting students enrol in CPA Ethics and Governance, the $1000 grant will go toward the additional tuition fees associated with this course. The grant will be payable directly to the student's nominated account upon receipt of proof of payment from CPA and successful completion of the course.

    6. If students undertake an international study tour, the $1000 grant will be used to defray travel costs tied to the study tour and can be used in conjunction with other study tour grants. 

    7. Processes for redemption of the $1000 grant in all other circumstances will be determined by the Program Director.

    8. Grants are open to domestic students only.
