Entry requirements
Applicants are required to have one of the following:
- A completed bachelor degree* from a recognised higher education institution or equivalent; or
- A completed graduate certificate* from a recognised higher education institution; or
- A Diploma or Advanced Diploma in a relevant field of the arts and two years relevant professional experience; or
- A minimum of five (5) years relevant professional experience.
English language entry requirements
In addition, international students who speak English as a foreign language must have obtained one of the following standards within the last two years prior to admission. Possession of one or more of these qualifications, in addition to the academic entry requirements, does not, in itself, guarantee a place at the University of South Australia. Applications are considered on an individual basis and selection is competitive. This exciting graduate diploma will provide you with a strong understanding of contemporary management theory and how it applies to the various elements of the creative arts and cultural industries. You will develop leadership and problem-solving abilities while studying the arts environment.
Our summer and winter schools offer exciting study opportunities with options such as intensives, internships and global study tours. You can also spread your study load across the year, increase your exchange opportunities and fast track your degree. If you wish to go onto further studies, you can use this qualification as a pathway into the Master of Management (Arts and Cultural Management).
What you'll learn
The Graduate Diploma in Management (Arts and Cultural Management) is made up of 8 courses. You will complete two courses in your specialisation: Arts Environment, and Arts and Cultural Leadership and Governance. You will also complete four Business core courses and two electives. Through these you will develop skills and expertise in areas that include:
- Festivals and Events
- Marketing Management
- Arts and Cultural Audiences
Study hours
For each course you study, you will need to allocate time for various classes such as lectures, tutorials, workshops, seminars and practicals. Plus you will need additional hours to study in your own time to complete assignments, readings and projects, as well as to contribute to online discussion forums (independent study). So as a general rule, if you are studying full-time you would need to allocate 12–26 hours of study when at university and 14–28 hours of independent study per week.
Assessment
Your studies at UniSA will incorporate both practical, professional and research-based learning, so assessment types will vary. You can expect them to include:

- individual projects and essays
- research plans and reports
- essays and assignments
- group projects and discussion papers

Vice Chancellor's International Excellence Scholarship
Recipients can get a 50% reduction on tuition fees for up to four years of full-time study for selected degrees.
International Merit Scholarship
Recipients can get a 15% reduction on tuition fees for the duration of their chosen degree.

The Business Student Hub is a dedicated and convenient support service for business students, from first year right through to graduation. Our learnonline facilities include a personal learning environment with virtual classrooms, lecture recordings, emails, learning support, administration, library access and results. Please note, all student visa holders are required to meet their visa condition to study no more than one-third of their program in an online mode and maintain enrolment in at least one internal (face-to-face) course per compulsory study period, unless it is their final course and not available internally. If you are currently residing in Adelaide, on-campus attendance (such as seminars, workshops or examinations) and/or placements would apply, as outlined on individual course pages. If you are currently overseas, online study may be available following your individual study plan.

As a lecturer at UniSA, my main commitment is to excellence in quality teaching and as a researcher, my main objective is to have an impact and generate greater awareness about critical issues in management and society. My research and teaching interests lie in leadership, both the good and toxic sides of leadership, gender, physical appearance, diversity, and organisational behaviour.

You will have visibility of your application through the secure online portal with the ability to download offer documents, submit your acceptance and make a payment.

Is there a closing date for applications?
There is no closing date for submitting your application however the admissions process takes between one and three weeks from the date that we receive your application and all required supporting documentation.

What credit can I receive for previous studies?
You may be eligible to receive credit or advanced standing for your chosen UniSA degree based on your previous studies, if they are in a related area at an equivalent or higher level. Receiving credit will reduce the number of courses you undertake within the degree, and may also reduce the overall duration of your degree.
The amount of credit you may be eligible to receive is assessed on a case-by-case basis by the Admissions team.
The best way to determine your eligibility to receive credit or advanced standing is to apply using our International Application System which can be found on our How to Apply page. You will need to supply detailed syllabus documents with your application.
