This exciting graduate diploma will provide you with a strong understanding of contemporary management theory and how it applies to the various elements of the creative arts and cultural industries. You will develop leadership and problem-solving abilities while studying the arts environment.
Our summer and winter schools offer exciting study and learning opportunities. With options such as intensives, internships and global study tours, you can spread your study load across the year, increase your exchange opportunities and fast track your degree. If you wish to go onto further studies you can use this qualification as a pathway into the Master in Management (Arts and Cultural Management).
The Graduate Diploma in Management (Arts and Cultural Management) is made up of 8 courses. You will complete two courses in your specialisation: Arts Environment, and Arts and Cultural Leadership and Governance. You will also complete four Business School core courses and two electives. Through these you will develop skills and expertise in areas that include:
Offered in conjunction with the Adelaide Festival Centre, this degree equips students with the diverse business skills and knowledge required to manage successful arts and cultural organisations, programs, festivals, events and venues.
You will work with the Asia-Pacific Centre for Arts and Cultural Leadership – a UniSA and Adelaide Festival Centre joint venture at the forefront of the arts and in engagement with the Asia-Pacific. A focus of the centre is to train and educate younger arts and cultural managers, and also more senior leaders, to world-class levels.
You will study the arts environment, and arts and cultural leadership and governance. As a graduate, you can rest assured that yours is a globally competitive degree that is respected internationally for its quality and relevance to industry. You will be equipped with the knowledge and experience to succeed as a leader within the arts and cultural sectors, enabling you to address the challenges of sustainability that build relationships with audiences and industry stakeholders to enhance cultural vitality.

$7,000 for a full year is available for students who are interested in undertaking specified activities with the aim of enhancing the overall student experience at UniSA.

I have more than 20 years experience working in governance, management and marketing in the non-profit sphere at local, state, national and international levels. I have also conducted management, marketing and governance research for visual arts organisations and performing arts organisations among others. I use this experience to create an innovative and relevant curriculum for students.
There are a number of ways to apply to study UniSA's undergraduate and postgraduate coursework degrees.
Applications for admission into the University of South Australia’s undergraduate and most postgraduate degrees are made via the South Australian Tertiary Admissions Centre (SATAC). Visit satac.edu.au and follow the links.
For the MBA degrees please apply through the UniSA MBA Application Portal. Applications for a small number of degrees are submitted direct to UniSA through our Apply Online portal. It will be noted on the degree page if you need to apply via Apply Online.
Postgraduate study by research

Undergraduate
Yes. The deadline to apply to study a degree at UniSA for semester one (commencing late February) and be given equal consideration is in early December. While you may be able to apply after this date, you are not guaranteed to be considered equally with other applicants and your application may not be assessed in time for the main round of offers (mid January). Postgraduate
Most postgraduate degrees do not have a closing date for applications. However, there are exceptions, so it is best to check – either on the SATAC website, Apply Online or the degree homepage. Postgraduate offers are normally ‘rolling’, meaning they may be sent out at any time up until the program starts. This also means that applications may close at any time without warning, if the quota is filled earlier. For this reason, postgraduate applications should be submitted without delay. Credit transfer or advanced standing
You may be eligible to receive a credit transfer or advanced standing for your chosen UniSA degree based on your previous studies, if they are in a related area at an equivalent or higher level. Receiving a credit transfer will reduce the number of courses you undertake within the degree, and may also reduce the overall duration of your degree.
Recognised prior learning
If you have related industry experience, you may also be eligible to receive recognised prior learning for this experience. Receiving recognised prior learning will normally reduce the number of courses you undertake within the degree, and can reduce the duration of the degree.
How do I get credit?
Credit transfer and recognition of prior learning is assessed on a case-by-case basis by the Program Director who will discuss your prior learning and experience with you to ascertain what credit you may be eligible for.
