Entry requirements
A completed Bachelor of Engineering degree from a recognised higher education institution or equivalent;
OR
successful completion of at least 99 units of a Bachelor of Engineering degree at the University of South Australia in which the student is currently enrolled.
English language entry requirements
In addition, international students who speak English as a foreign language must have obtained one of the following standards within the last two years prior to admission. Possession of one or more of these qualifications, in addition to the academic entry requirements, does not, in itself, guarantee a place at the University of South Australia. Applications are considered on an individual basis and selection is competitive. Where previous study/work experience was conducted in English, the application must be accompanied by certified documentation from the educational institution/employer certifying that the language of instruction/employment was English.

Aim

Provide an understanding of the professional engineering work environment, practices and culture, and provide a structured work placement within an engineering enterprise.

Content & Structure

The program comprises two core courses related to professional engineering practice, one of 4.5 units, the other 13.5 units. Students must pass both courses to complete the program.

Rules

1. Students who have been employed within an engineering enterprise may submit evidence of their experiences and apply for recognition of this prior learning as part of the course Structured Engineering Work Placement

Notes

1. The course Professional Engineering Practice E will normally be undertaken in block mode prior to commencing the course Structured Engineering Work Placement.

2. Students who have completed the course Professional Engineering Practice E, or an equivalent course, as part of their Bachelor of Engineering will be granted credit for this course within the Graduate Certificate.

3. Students who complete the course Structured Engineering Work Placement in the Graduate Certificate will be granted credit for the corresponding zero-unit course within their Bachelor of Engineering program.

4. As a preamble to their work placement, students are expected to attend workshops that will assist them to apply for and secure their placement.

5. The work placement may be undertaken on a full-time or part-time basis.
