Course aim

To further develop students’ ability to write for radio, longer format radio stories and podcasts.

Course content

Students will build on existing knowledge of broadcast writing and producing. Students will develop skills to edit news stories using industry-standard software, compile news reports, apply industry standards to news writing, voice reporting, news production and podcasting as well as knowledge of sourcing and interviewing techniques. They will identify and analyse key ethical and legal obligations associated with broadcast reporting including podcasting.Students will experience the practical constraints of radio journalism and will learn to work to daily deadline pressures in a team.
