International Trade Law

Course aim

We live in a global economy where the interconnectedness of businesses across national boundaries is pervasive.  Understanding how the law facilitates or impedes international transactions is key to understanding the nature and operation of the global economy.  In this course we examine the legal regulation of international trade in goods and services, financing international transactions, cross-border insolvency and international dispute resolution mechanisms.  The course aims to equip students with the advanced skills and knowledge required to transact successfully on a global basis.

International Commercial Contracts: CISG and UNIDROIT Principles
Contracts for Carriage of Goods by Sea, Air and Land
Payments in International Trade Law
Financing international transactions
Transnational insolvency
Dispute resolution in International Commercial Contracts: conflicts of laws, international commercial litigation and international commercial arbitration.
