Course aim

To integrate at an advanced level, knowledge and skills gained across the first three years of the program and to prepare students for their Professional Placement experience by further development of the communication, technical and cognitive skills necessary for best pharmacy practice.

Course content

Further development of the legal and ethical dimensions of pharmacy practice; Simulated clinical scenarios for situations encountered in day-to-day practice (with consumers/clients, health professionals, and others ); problem-solving strategies to address the needs of complex clients/consumers; adapting communication to address challenging situations. Medication review and management; drug optimisation, therapeutic drug monitoring and chronic disease management. Manufacture of standard formulary and individual extemporaneous formulations. Concise written communication to other health professionals.
